In Memory of Leslie Cheung

Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing (12 September 1956 – 1 April 2003), nicknamed "Gor Gor" (哥哥), which stands for “Elder brother”, was a Hong Kong film actor and musician. Cheung was considered as "one of the founding fathers of Cantopop", and "combining a hugely successful film and music career".

In 2000, Cheung was named Asian Biggest Superstar by China Central Television, and voted/ranked the 1st as The Most Favorite Actor in 100 Years of Chinese Cinema in 2005. In 2010 he was voted the third of the CNN's "top five most iconic musician of all time" placing behind Michael Jackson and The Beatles.

LP

In 1982, Cheung joined Capital Artists upon the end of his contract with RTV. It was at Capital Artists that Florence Chan became his music agent and remained as such through his entire career. While at Capital Artists, he also met Anita Mui, another Hong Kong Cantopop idol, starting a long lasting friendship. In 1983, Cheung released his first hit song, "The Wind Blows On" (風繼續吹). In 1984, he released his first top ten hit song "Monica", which became the first so-called "fast" song that won the RTHK Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award. "Monica" became representative of a new genre of Hong Kong music in the mid 1980s. Fans began to demand fast and energetic Cantopop songs that would be suitable for both dancing and listening. Other Top Ten Gold Songs released by Cheung through Capital Artists included "Wild Wind" (不羈的風) (album, For Your Love Only, 1985); "Who Can Be With Me" (有誰共鳴) (album, Leslie Cheung: Allure Me, 1986) and "Love in Those Years" (當年情) (theme song for A Better Tomorrow, album Leslie Cheung: Allure Me, 1986). "Who Can Be With Me" became the Gold of the Gold Songs (Best Song) of the Year for 1986. In the same year, Cheung released his first Mandarin album in Taiwan, also titled "Love in Those Years," and became an instant hit.

Tomorrow is 10th Anniversary of his death that no one believed that was truth as on 1 April, he leapt from 24th Floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel at 6:43 (HKT) 2003.

Every year at this time, I will take out this claimed to be the Collection item of best Music and song from Leslie released in 1989. And Place it on my LP-12 Platter and finely tune up the volume of my tube system, and started to enjoy the best recording of this HK Legendary singer.: Leslie Cheung!

Note

I know that there are two sources in HK that you still can get this Album, price is about HKD$1,500 to HKD$5,000 depending on Condition.

Some Russian LP Album

Good friend of mine bought me some Russin LPs, as there is no English on the cover, LP itself, I have no way to understand it but one of them is the Piano Concerto No. 1 of Tchaivosky, I am pleased with the deirector's arrnagement, music recording quality and the Lp is heavy about 140gs.
I have to say there may be still a lot of good Russian Recording, but do not expect the same quality as DGG, EMI or RCA!?

Orchester Anthony Ventura Je Taime Traum-Melodien

This is mid night, whilset I swtiched on my WE300B push Pull power amplifier driving the Barbeth HL-Compact, listening to these sweet melodies...

Started from San Francisco, going to Southern America for the Guantanamera, then Charly a beautiful name of a lady...resembled the Starting music of a Movie in the 70s in my favourite Cinema "Washington" at Jordan Road

Crying In The Chapel, If I were a Carpenter, Maria Elena, a Ledgendary Guitar music, if Only I had time... Save the last dance for me...

Lara's Theme, Neil Diamond's Song Sung Blue, if you could read my mind, Smokes get in your eyes, Hey Jude, Blowin' in the wind, greensleeves, Love me tender to end this 45 minutes love Music....

If I could Choose, I would have no hesitation to recommend to the Hotel as background music at the Coffee Shop, But I think the GM will call me soon. as most of the guests would not leave and to continue the Breakfast buffet!... Now I know why the hotel plays the Rock music with heavy drum beats... that stop you appetite.

The Royal ballet ( re-issue)

If you had no chance to get the first release "Royal Ballet"  try this re-issue in 2006. It is just about HKD$450, The original first release is about HKD$18000 min. If I am not wrong, my verison was printed in 2006.

You can still enjoy the finest ballet music onducted by Ernest Ansermet, also the painting was a Pissco drawing made in 1917 in Barcelona for Ernest.

This is a Must LP for fans of Tcharikovsky, Rossini, Shumann and Chopin...

You can feel the power of the ending of Waltz of the Flowers, no one else would be better i think.
And this is a Mono-LP!
